Melton
City Little Athletics Centre
January 2014
WELCOME BACK!
We hope you all enjoyed the first half of the 2013/2014 season, and had a wonderful break over Christmas and New Year’s.
'Apps' and Emails
For those of you who do not know, Melton South Little Athletics now has a free 'App' for smart phones. This 'App' has all the information on it that you need to keep up to date with the centres calendar. As well as having results, newsletters and links to our website and Facebook pages, it is a great way to keep informed of things such as if we have to cancel a program.
(To Download App- go to the App store or Google Play depending on your device. Look up 'Team App', it is a green icon with a 'T'. Once this is installed on your device you will have to register and then look up Melton South Little Athletics. The whole process takes about 5 minutes)
We also encourage all members to check their emails regularly to make sure they are up to date with all available information. This is particularly important at the conclusion of the season as it is how invitations to presentation are sent.
Relays
Well done to all athletes who competed in region relays and congratulations to the teams who progressed to state. You have all done the centre proud!
Training
Training will resume from this Wednesday evening at 5:30pm. A reminder that it is very important that all parents or guardians stay at the reserve for the entire length of the training session.
Replacement Program
In November we had a washout of the scheduled program 7. This program is now being run on February 2nd. Anyone that is registered to compete at State Multi Events in Bendigo will receive Pro Rata points for this day.
Barcodes / Chest Tags
It is a requirement of our affiliation with little athletics Victoria that all athletes wear the chest tag. With our new results system it is now even more imperative that all athletes wear them as it makes Jacki’s job at the finish line difficult without them.
As of our program on February 9th all children must have a chest tag to be able to receive points. Temporary tags will be available from the clubrooms but only prior to 8:45am
Brimbank/ Melton South Challenge
Last season our committee along with that of Brimbank introduced the Brimbank / Melton South Challenge. This is a two day event that runs at our centre and theirs. As the date that Brimbank was to come to us was a washout we are in the process of rescheduling, however our visit to them will proceed as programmed on February 8th.
Last year Melton South bought home the inaugural shield and we would love to retain it this season. To succeed in this we need as many members possible to attend as points are pro – rated with the number of registered members not the number of children participating.
Brimbank Little Athletics is at Sassella Park, Station Rd, Deer Park. Turn left off Ballarat Rd, approx. 1 km on the left.
Please arrive at 8:15 as Brimbank begin events at 8:30 Sharp.
You should also be aware that we are still running our regular program the following day.
State Multi Event
Good luck to the six athletes going to Bendigo to compete at State Multi Event. Your team manager for the day will be Brimbank President Lyndon Best that has kindly volunteered for us.
